Hello to all good folks in this group... So im in the market looking to get an e46. Is this a good idea reliability wise? I'm prepared to do some repairs on the car but not to the point where I have to pop like 4k every so often to fix something..... i'll be driving the car about 180KM in total daily to and from work..... so what milage should I look at? what will be the common parts i will have to replace more often and how much do they cost? Your response would really help.

Buy the 6 cylinder petrol model

If you budget allows but a 330i once and for all

Honestly speaking if they oiled & cooled correctly they can go on forerver

Gizmo on this forum has one for sale if i'm not mistaken (be it a Wagon)..and it so happens that he is one of the most knowledgeable guys about those motors

Check the cooling system (expansion tank, pipes etc...)..known to be a weak point....

Other than that....that is a shweeeeeet motor:thumbs:

In this case you going to 'over-age' an already old car.
I do agree with straight six, that the 330i is a good option, but finding one with reasonable mileage is impossible. Hence you might end up with a car that needs minor repairs monthly on wear and tear items (bushes, cooling system plastics, shocks etc.)

I would in your case chase an e90 320d/330d Lci if possible. The commitment to forking out the extra cash will be well worth it. The cruising ability and super low consumption will pay you back greatly!
