I used to have one of those and yep worked okay down here in KZN but as soon as I got into more populated areas there's far too much interference

Rob is that the Audiovox, it says it is hard wired, so how can there be interference?

No no I was talking about an iTrip type thing... You tune it to an FM frequency and your radio to the same

I have the CD shuttle in the trunk, so is there an option to hook something up from there in place of the shuttle that works with the flash drive/usb which will display the song titles on, and change the songs from the head unit?

I don't mind opening the trunk to every now and then to change the flash drive or SD card

Nope. You might lose the shuttle then...

Thanks, I want to lose the shuttle, I would like a SD card or USB card player in its place.

But the easiest option still to get the head unit to play flash or SD cards is the cassette adapter.

Go to a scrap yard and get a CD shuttle up front.

And/or buy or have made (would be better quality) a aux cable.

I used to have a tape deck. Swapped it out. And now I have a cd player up front, a cd loader in the boot, and an aux running into the glovebox.

It should work fine with minimal signal loss, the dummy tape uses a tape head which is almost direct contact with the tape deck's head, so if there is nothing wrong with the car's tape deck the music could be as crystal clear as if the car has a usb unit.
