I feel it is time for some cosmetic changes for my e34.
This is what she looks like currently.

Wheels - M-Pars. AC Schnitzer bodykit is the best cosmetic mod IMO, but that might not be as easy to come by...

then it will look like uber's car

Bodykit is on the list. Just a bit difficult to come by.

Colourcoding is also on the cards, but she will stay white.

If I de-chrome, should I maybe go for a satin black finish?

I don't want the car to look like Ubers. That car is unique and should not be copied.

Stating the obvious here, but it boils down to personal taste. For not much loot I introduced changes to my E34 M5 which I think enhance its looks considerably - 18" E60 replicas, colour coding bumpers and skirting and modernising lights. (Needless to say, I hung onto all original bits)

Gotta say though that if one's gonna spend a little more (body kit etc) you'll have to look far and wide to beat Uber's machine for looks - an absolute stunner.

Black(en) the beadings and kidneys(just the chrome outer edge),
Smoked/clears all round
Maybe colour code the bumper (but thats a large bumper) / body kit. If your keeping the bumpers I say get a nice smooth side sill, then paint the bottom section of the body under the bumper in white.
Multi/Cross-spoke rims (staggered), lower suspension,
Slight tint on the windows,
Change the rear tail pieces (a AC bit would look good)
Remove the aerial at the back, it should give the car a cleaner/smoother look. Please leave the boot as it is, that square-ness of the rear end looks good:)
Black and white badges.

Note the original lip turned upside down.

Definately a satin black finish-thats if you are not colour coding the rest of the car

I say keep the old school Chrome..
Color code the bottoms of the bumpers & side sills
Clears all round
Tint the windows

And maybe something like this in terms of wheels

Running a staggered set of Alpina reps would look awesome...

woohoo ! formateer ! Another Schmiedmann fan :) so little people here know about Schmiedmann, its like the best place to buy BMW parts from.. and their prices are pretty damn good, and MOST of the stuff on their site is original.

Jandre, tint and color coding makes a HUGE difference, also get a xenon kit for your car .. will make it look flashy at night :) its cheap enough and improves the light quality a lot..
also maybe add a rear spoiler, that makes it look quite abit nicer also.. love the look of the rear spoilers on the E34 ...

First thing for me would be wheels, I hate those, but luckily taste differs, get something you like and you want to live with.

So for me cosmetically in this order:

Wheels
A stick shift :)

The old girl kinda caught me off guard the other day, when it became clear she wants hydraulic lifters on cylinder 1, and a timing chain.

The cosmetics will have to wait. Want to get that V8 purring first.

That should all be sorted by end December hopefully.

Finding 17" rims for an e34 is seriously difficult. No-one seems to carry stock of rims with a 20mm offset. (and if they do, it is lenso Eagles, and I hate those). Those will have to do for now. Plus, I picked them up for a song (tyres included).

Thanks for all the tips guys. i will definitely be using some of them.

Got original 17" E34 M5 rims with both styles of caps Jandre. Not looking to sell them - plan is that they'll go with my M5 if and when I sell it. However, money talks, so if you are interested in the rims, PM me and we can discuss ...
