Hi guys !

Hope everyone is well , it has been a while ,

can anyone tell me where can I buy Lemforder suspension parts for my E46? I contacted axis , sean , but his moved away and is no longer able to supply . Preferably in Durban , but online or anywhere else where I could ship it down would be fine as well .

Are there any other alternate suppliers for these parts?

Need various pieces for my E46 .

Thanks

So a small update .

100% correct , they don't sell direct to the public , only to distributors ,

So I called them yesterday and was told that their distributor or reseller is All_parts and Diesel Electric in Durban , Called Diesel Electric , and the guy tells me that they don't stock Lemforder suspension parts yet, I mentioned to him that I did speak to ZF whose offices are basically 30s away from their store , and they had informed me to contact them , and he said he will check up on it for me , So ill probably go in to their offices sometime this week and see if they can supply the part .

On another note , I contacted a company in CPT who supplied me with prices on the Lemforder parts , (also another reseller or distributor for ZF)

Also decided to check on the parts from BMW and compare the prices ,
Turns out BMW is cheaper and I got quoted on more parts from BMW for the same amount .

My next task is to check with ALL Parts and Diesel Electric and see what prices they come up with .

ZF wont sell the parts directly.
You have to get the parts from a reseller only

I spent way too much time fcuking around with local suppliers - they are expensive and only have one or 2 arms - not a complete set - just buy online from autodoc or FCP/Turner and pay the shipping. Get creative with the duties, we pay enough tax

From memory, I spent about R25k on E39 complete suspension from FCP on Black Friday. BMW was the cheapest I could find locally and quoted me close to 50k. Shipping (for 2 cars suspension including other misc parts) was around 12k, import duties were...not much. So I ended up paying just over 30k for OEM parts

+1 for FCP. And their shipping prices/times are actually decent.

I have always watched Goldwagen threads and never really had the need to buy much more than a few minor items from them. I did buy some old stock items for my beetle, but they also were not exactly cheap.

They aren't cheap but you'd imagine they are convenient since they are everywhere but there are a number of items I've recently looked for that are either no longer available or only the cheap verisons are available. My feeling is their stockholding is now much lower than they were in the past.

Of these OE brands that they stock, the parts they have sometimes appear to be B grade... E46 cooling system parts case in point (most recently)... where we ended up just buying a couple of things from BMW. In MANY cases, they also end up being more expensive than agents (control arms, various bearings). You have better luck with things like brakes which I recently did but this doesn't apply to all brands. If you look for the same parts for an E46 they are not available or they have one brand for the front but nothing for the rear.

I already import a few parts from Alfaworks, Alfa9Supply and GMS for my 4C. For the M5 we have the dealer and Deago when the time comes (Goldwagen never beat his pricing to the degree it would make sense when I had my F10 off plan) and for the Cayenne, agents and FCP Euro are the way to go.

The import duties and times are not terrible and you will often find that the prices are lower than you think. Alfa9 even found creative ways to get big things (eg: my harness bars and lap belt/antisub mounting kit for my Alfa) shipped economically. Try to get ahold of a sales rep on email and see what they can do.

The same applies to Amazon.com which now gives you a single cost that includes clearance and delivery to your door. You just have to be 100% sure you are actually getting it FROM AMAZON and not potentially dodge third party sellers. For some PC parts this is cheaper than buying locally. I needed a 420mm radiator the other day and ended up ordering a Corsair unit off amazon (which you would think carries a high brand tax) for EXACTLY the same price as a slightly thinner chinese one available locally yet it is coming all the way across the world and paying max duties/VAT/shipping. Amazon also does free international returns and warranty service now.

I still want to understand how much margin the local guys want to make on certain things, considering they are getting items in at trade prices/agent rates and imported via sea freight yet they are selling them at such high pricing that you can buy it at RETAIL from overseas, ship it via air, pay duties on the retail values and it is still cheaper and sometimes even more convenient.
