Leather replace and color change

Hey guys,

So I wanted to do this for a while now as the leather in my car irritates me!

I have already replaced the gear knob because it was starting to look sick (R700 from BMW).

Do anyone know of a reliable company where this can be done? I want the leather to be replaced and instead of the stupid beige leather to make it black with red stitching.

I am a bit afraid of going to anyone, so any input will be appreciated.

Google Colour-Glo they are the best. Note they are pricey, possibly 10 - 13K for a colour change. Thats a redye - you wont notice a difference

Whatever you decide, please post some before and after pics. I'd like to see what some of the local guys can do

They are based in centurion? If so then I have contacted them for a quote and was just under R7000, I have heard good things about them but wanted to make sure.

Yikes that's not to bad. Just to do my arm rest was 1200 from grey to black an grey seats with carpet was 9K for a redye. What about door pads ,roof lining back dash and interior trim pieces?....hence I stated 10 - 13 K initially

My headlining is already black/anthracite ..

To be honest I am not sure what that included, I will go there the weekend and make sure what the price actually included.

I redyed the grey upholstery on my E36 which was in good condition but scuffed in places where the dye had been worn through. I did all the seats and doorcards as well as front headrests. I used about 1l of upholstery dye (same grey as original, maybe slight difference as i did not send them a sample) plus 2l of cleaner of which i used maybe 300ml. Cost of total dye plus cleaner was about R330, yes, Three hundred and thirty rand! OK, thinners was an extra R100 for 5 litres, of which i used maybe 2,5l.
My garage assistent helped me clean the seats with some household cleaner/carpet cleaner and then i wiped down the upholstery with the cleaner supplied with the dye.
Sprayed the seats with my cheap spraygun and small compressor and the seats came out better than i had hoped. Actually, like very good! I was going to buy another E36 (328i this time) in Boston Green and was going to change the worn seats (also grey) and respray them biscuit brown, using the same product but different colour. Changed my mind about the car though and bought E46 with excellent upholstery, but i am sure it can be done diy! For very cheap! The pictures are of the seats a year after i had dyed them!

Offer this as a service to fanatics, even at a R1000 you would still make a profit and I bet many people would take you up on the offer ....

it's paint not dye :fencelook:

for completeness sake, the correct way it is done is to remove the clear coat/emulsion.

this gets rid of the cracks and scuffs.

then you recolour, and reclear

 wot he said, and after taking off the coats you can steam the leather it will tighten it up again before you re dye and protect the leather.

Wow looks really nice, I would have tried this, but my leather needs repair as well..

The idiot that had the car before me was a schmuck and will drive a baseball bat through his face..

the interior was really neglected as if the car is a VW1..

Will post some pics of the interior later.
