At the moment these camera’s are at EdwinSwales Drive & Titren Roads (both directions) and on the M7, at M7/N2 West side, going towards the Bluff.
They are also at the Umgeni & Alpine Road intersectionson the east side going towards the N2.
These laser camera's take pictures of you speeding +- 70km/h (speed limit in these areas is 60km/h) in all the lanes irrespective if traffic light is green, amber or red.
It also take’s a picture if you go through the red, also in each lane individually as well as the speeding.
It does not work off sensors in the road, it is 4x LAZER camera’s.
In the pic,s you can see the camera box +- 50 meters from the stop line and in the front is the auxiliary flash to enhance the picture.
Each camera box has 4x digital cameras and cost’s about R250k each.
I wonder how long it will take to recoup the outlay per box - not very long!!!
They been up for a while and thought i would just inform anyone that doesn't know yet and this is not only for Durban and im sure they will be popping up all over the country.
