RyanC what you want is when you finnished pulling off and you clutch is up fully released is to have the rev over 2k and your foot flat without wheelspin. popping the clutch in this car just slams you into the ASC or if you have it off rips up your tyres.

Play with it till you get that you will know you get it right.

Auto boxes help a lot with this but I supposed it make it more fun when you have to get it right.

Play around with different revs & launch techniques untill you get one that suits you..

in my E36 if I wanted a fast launch, best was to hold revs @ 4500 & drop clutch & give gas.. Gave some wheel spin but it jumped off the line nicely..

:rollsmile: joking aside, you could launch like that, and still beat most things you come accros, so you should probably be able to do both, just incase you stop next to me at the robot, and dont want to look bad infront of the girls...

Hi guys,

I'm new to the BMW family. Have my 2011 320d for a month now. Hardest thing for me was getting used to the clutch, especially on steep inclines and on takeoff. Any tips? Does anyone know how to launch the car on takeoff? Coming from an Audi petrol car, there's no clutch control needed on the beemer. Launching the Audi was easy, but struggling with the beemer.

I have the same problem as you. I've had the car for about 5 months now and I've kinda perfected it, but I still have to look at the rev counter check its around 2000 - 2500rpm and release clutch slowly. So its not second nature just yet. Probably because I have a fiesta as well, and its clutch is very different, no thinking required, just hit the accelerator and let go of the clutch, its a very forgiving car.
