Hi all! My first post here :joy: hoping to get some advice!

I've read a couple of posts before wrt piggy back chips (specifically for the f20 m135i) and just wanted to know whats the latest in terms of:

1) best/most reliable brand/tuner (Hartge, ACS, RaceChip, etc.) or does it really not matter? (budget range between 5-10k)
2) seems there are 2 views on wether the chips can be detected by beemer dealerships..? can most of the chips clear the codes? warranty is a concern for me..
3) overall best bang for buck tune?

i've got about 7000km on the clock, all stock

Thanks!

1) ACS if you dont want any worries with your motorplan, but then take your budget limit and multiply it by 5 and you're somewhere in the price range of an ACS chip.

2) JB4 is what you want for you're price. And you're in luck theres a forum member selling his. You just need to get the harness

LINK

It seems there will always be people who say it will be detectable and those that say its not.

I read this for some reason as something to do with Chips sold at Pick 'n Pay... Then I read the contents of the thread and it made more sense

JB4 IMO is the the best bang for the buck. Gives you various maps to choose from, boost gauge, timing , IAT . You can read and delete codes . Just go to www.burgertuning.com for more information.

With regard to MP , you must remove the JB4 before taking into BMW. I am not sure whether any remnants of the tune is visible after removal.

Get the chip from the link i sent you, and the harness order online will cost about R1500 for the harness. The poster of the link is open to offers. So make him a reasonable offer if he still has it. He was using it on the same car as you so he will be able to give you feedback.

And all tunes/piggies can be detected...
While installed yes, but if removed and all codes including the various shadow codes are cleared there is no chance of detection.

F30 dont even think about a way not approved by motorplan. spoke to my friend mechanic at BMW. he says BMW downloads some files and they can see if there were any plug and play or tampering with the car's original maps. by means of fuel suply pressure, boost, revs, exsetra. Not even the dealer can see or have access to this for we know why.

:thumbdo: There is no cheap way for now to bypass Motorplan.
