Looks like my 04 X3 key will have to go to surgery, don't think it's ever been opened. I have a battery on the shelf. I've got the solder gun and a blade to open it up. Key fob's opening power distance is less than two feet. I now have to press any button two times or more to get a response. The give away is that the trunk opens more easily on first command. Then once I get the new battery in I'll have to program the key again along with the sister key...if not,,,,only one key will function.
The joys of BMW ownership, of course I could go to the dealer and have $175 to $300 lifted off me. But instead I'll save that amount. Oh! the joys!
