My E89 Z4 3,5S has 4,000 kms on it, But sat under a cover in my garage for 4+ years with the battery disconnected after a long fight with cancer.
I called an auto electrician in last week Jan 2024. They Installed a new battery and initialized it, R7,000-00 later, Car started no problem, however while sitting there the Turbo Charge Pipe has cracked and an resultant engine error.
The next day I came to use the car and it just cranks and does not fire.
Called out the same Auto Elect, he plugged his diag meter in & declared now a immobilizer error. He cannot sort out.
Contacted local BMW agent. They said most likely key fobs from lack of use faulty now.
R4,470-00 Each X 2. Plus Towing vehicle there another R1,000.00, Then they have to deregister Keys and program new keys and then run diagnostics. Price for that not given, but I can guess exorbitant.
+ R9,000-00 + Labour for new Turbo Charge Pipe.
Now that I am retired have to save the pennies!
Anyone here kind enough to know the best way around this
I see replacement batteries for the fob on Takealot for R200-00 and I see complete fobs for peanuts R400-00 on Aliexpress, cheap comparative to BMW prices locally for new Fobs.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..
