Key problem

Hi, can anyone help. My key is not locking or opening my car. I don't know if it is a battery that needs to be replaced or if the battery came loose from the soldered part.
I am in Cape Town, if there is anyone that can help please let me know.

Most likely the battery. Do some research before replacing. Its not that easy to do. For now just use it as we used to do ol school or use the spare key.

My son had the keys on his E46 BMW sorted by a company in Cape Town somewhere for decent amount of moola. The one key could only unlock the doors but would not start the car and the other key would start the car but not unlock the doors remotely. Will get name and address for you as soon as i hear from my son

I had this same problem, turned out to be the battery on the key. There is a youtube video with instructions on how to change the battery if you want to diy it. I would test it at an indy key specialist just to be sure though, as it could be a few other things as well, e.g. antenna amplifier or general module. Battery is the most likely culprit though.
