Are you sure that M8 wasn't shutting down cylinders or something? Like a Hemi? Cos my consumption is properly shite. Right now, I hate to say this, it's averaging 17.3/100... on the combined cycle. To be fair though, it spends most of it's life sitting in traffic. But yeah it's killing me to see it so high. To give you an example, my 760 was averaging anywhere between 16.5/100 to 19/100...

Traffic will kill you. But yes my F90 is also lighter than some mates with B58s report. No cylinder deactivation (or else I’d find a way to code it out like auto stop start 🤣). In your case electric would work well I think.

Sandton is the worst especially if you trying to get into sandton via Greystone from the highway. It can drive you mad.

What i have noticed.... Trucks are holding everyone up on inclines (Midrand towards new road perfect example) and want to drive side by side. I hate to say it but they should ban trucks on highways during peak lol.
There are lots of "new" learner drivers on the roads. By the time they take off at a turn signal its already going yellow when they pass.
Uber drivers are on the phones driving 20km/hour with no care in the world on the backlog behind them.
Taxi drivers have not changed, they still drive how they want but are not recruiting other privileged drivers who think they can disobey the traffic laws as well. Its just a shit show really.

Then we have rainy days and all common sense goes out the window.

Im now investing in a good sound systems instead of go fast mods. Rather listen to some good music and watch the freak show. Pointless getting mad. Makes no difference.

They disobey everything in MADrand, red robots, stop signs, driving on pavements, oncoming traffic and making cars with right of way move to the side and they have normal drivers following them. The worst is they drive into u in traffic and u have to stop n give way or get involved in an accident.

The amount of cars with blue lights with normal plates on the N1 is scary they just do as they please.

Problem solved! I am contemplating switching the 5 for the new IX3... I like it. And with the claimed range... And the pricing is competitive if the press is to be believed, going to be around the same price as the outgoing IX3. So there is that. Suppose it depends on how hard BMW will hit me on a trade with the 5. And if my wife had to find out I was considering selling the X4, I'd be out on my ass. She loves that car more than me and our son combined.

The smartest thing one can do is get an EV if you have solar at the house and are a daily/commuter. I have gone completely off-grid and pay zero to the city power. The meter and cable have been removed. I will be adding an EV to the free garage specifically for work commuting.

There is basically no service done on them except for brakes, etc. I drive for free because I have solar. And the battery will hit about half, as I commute about 250km a week. Most EVs have a range of over 350 km these days.

There is no reason to be sitting in traffic in a V8 or I6. You are not only killing the engine but also incurring costs that are just not necessary. I will use my tuned BMW on Fridays and Weekends. But you won't see me sitting in traffic with it when I can't get it to fly as it should.

EV motors are designed to go over 1 million km with no maintenance. The batteries go over 10 years and still have 80% of their charge left. The used market in the UK and US has hundred/thousands of EVs over 10 years old and over 600k km still being sold and bought.

This is where I'm seeing it go. The X4 is still plenty fun, but to see my fuel gauge dropping it's pants constantly is disheartening. And with the rumoured fuel price increases coming (although Eishkom are gonna smash us as well because of NERSA's fuckup) I suppose it could a coin toss.....
