So... here is a RANT... There are two parts to this story, the first part being a rant at SupaQuick for being useless and possibly causing me to write off my car or worse. The 2nd problem is the one I really need help with from the fanatics. So, please read and let me know your thoughts on the 2nd.
Had new brake pads brought in for Jezebel via Burgy from Project Shift, I was extremely busy with work the past month, so I had the car taken to supaquick by someone else, so that the pads could be installed.
Car was returned to me the same day, all well and good. Car drove fine for a few days but I started noticing a small shudder and noise on the left hand side. I called burg and said, "who the hell installed these pads cause I don't think they did the job right." I ask him to come over and take a look.
No jokes, as I reverse out my garage and lightly tap the brakes, the top half of the left side calliper falls back against the rim of the car. BURGY immediately yells at me to stop and his face of HORROR explains all. The Calliper literally moves off the brake disk and floats back as I brake.
A damn bolt was missing.
SO Burgy and I find the bolt that had come off and he installs it correctly.
Had this happened while I was on the highway, I would have lost control of the car and possibly been killed or had killed someone else. NOT VERY SAFE SupaQuick... This is a fucking joke.
I'm extremely pissed off.
In the below images you can see the caliper sitting slightly back, its supposed to be directly vertical, not slanted back.
NOW.. the 2nd point of this rant.
I've been complaining about the Jezebel's loss of power higher up in the RPM range. When running another M3, I can pull away on lower RPM only to have him reel me in again at top end. This has never happened before and I know my car, I can feel when something is not right.
We originally thought it was a fuel filter issue, but with that out of the way, we ran diagnostic codes at Leonard yesterday and we find out the following code. (095) 5F Exhaust VANOS, Adaptation.
From doing some research, this is either cause by a failed Solonoid, which mine was replaced no more than 7000km ago (under 2 years). Another cause is that the Vanos may not have been installed correctly during the previous Engine rebuild over december... None the less, what is happening is the Vanos is not changing the angle of the exhaust cam to the correct degree.
Any Vanos experts here that can give me some advice cause this just pisses me off. I've spent a shitload of money fixing this car, and i'm tired of these little hidden surprises. Lee at Gtech has booked the car in for Monday next week and he's going to get down to sorting it out, but my concern is, what exactly is the problem. So, can anyone here help me out here and point me in the right direction as to how the hell do I sort this out.
As always, love the forum and love this car... I'm not giving up on Jezebel. So I don't want to hear any suggestions of selling the car. NOT GONNA HAPPEN.
Here are the error codes I received from yesterdays Diagnosis...
