Ok. Head is now at Gtech. Took one last look at Jezebel in her dusty, empty engine bay, state.
Lee is going to start putting her back together first thing monday morning, and I will be there with the camera to take pics.
I really must extend a massive thanks out to Werner at IPC. This guy really went out of his way to help me get this head and erase all worries I have thanks to the last month of total stuff ups with the old head. Even when I was worried about the shims and valve clearance, he offered to have their certified engineer re-shim the head and check all valve clearances... and at no extra cost.
I got the head this morning with a sheet of paper showing each shim and its clearance to make sure all was within spec. Werner himself went to go fetch the head, as the engineering shop closes today and all drivers were unavailable. Now that is service.
IPC even replaced a spring clip that holds the rocker arm in place. The one that I had was damaged. It was R80 for the part. I asked Werner where must I pay?
He just laughed and told me its all good. I already paid for a full head, so the clip is out of good faith. They just wanted to help me get the car back on the road.
Talk about service.
I'm really impressed with their dedication to BMW as a brand and customer service. If you are looking for any spares or parts for your BMW. IPC South Africa are the guys to call. Werner told me that they have a massive new shipment of Engines coming in. They go overseas and buy spares from all over the world including south Africa. They supply boetie buddler, Sav and Tune Tech with all their spares and Engines.
So for anyone else wanting to do an massive engine rebuilds or swaps, call Werner at IPC on this number - 011 840 6960
They have a V10 M6 engine sitting there. R48 000 exl Vat.
If you trade in your old engine, you get a discount.
My bro's 318ti is having power steering pump issues, so I'll be getting one from IPC and sorting him out with that too.
Anyway, as you can tell there is a skip in my step and I'm excited.
