Jezebel Engine Rebuild... Part 2

If all goes well, and the head is repairable, which Lee is very positive about, then I'm hoping for a sub R30k expense. Which puts my supercharging idea out the window for a while.

If there is more damage than I thought, then maybe I should just write her off with insurance.

I hadn't even done 2000km with her.

That is what my instinct tells me as well. Anything more than 30g is a hefty expense and it maybe worth your while to let go of her...
But lets see what the experts report

Really sucks.

Crash, R30k is not that bad dude, I had to cough up R25 when i blew the head on my Renault F1 3 years ago, so in comparison its not bad. Do you have a warranty? that helps allot. dont loose faith bro, trust me once she's back on the road and you got her redlining you wont stop smiling.

Just a side thought, I know on S5* engines, cylinder 6 is considered the weakest because of heating. Do you think this possibly had a roll to play?

Also if insured what will insurance pay out? As the parts on the car push its value way over book.

Sux balls indeed...
If price is too hefty just cut losses and sell..
Then scout and buy one with remaining motorplan...

Very sorry to hear dude this is truly terrible

I agree with Sank on the valves, since from what I have read the OEM valves are some of the only things that HPF do not replace if the go for 1000bhp since they are apparently good for up to 1500bhp or something so it is very strange that one of them should have failed.

As to the rest of the valves showing some real wear and tear this is quite strange as well, how many km's did the car do since the engine was built by G&C? I'm not trying to blame anyone, just looking for answers if anyone is wondering. I just think that this must have happened recently since G&C would probably have said replace if they were in the same condition when the engine was built.

If like you said the build can cost up to R50k I would be very hesitant to pay that amount and I would rather look for a replacement engine, I'm just saying you have options don't forget.

If you need anything else or whatever don't hesitate to shout the Fanatics family is there for a reason

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.

Very confused as to why one of the valves failed.

I'm going to go through again today and talk to Lee about it.

as far as i know G&C told matt the head would need to be looked at later...
remember matts plans changed so its been a while since the car was at G&C could be that the head is by now quite overdue for work...

I know its been a while since the car left G&C but I get the idea the car didn't do 30k km or so but more like 5k or so that is why I am asking since I don't see how valves can go from not worn to worn in say 5k km.

for sure... did not take into account the car might not have done many KM in this time...

but anyway IF someone is to blame I dont really see this as a G&C issue seeing as Sav had the cams out two weeks ago...

30k to rebuild an ///M motor is not bad. Prices on parts alone are crazy. I paid more than this to rebuild my E36 M3 motor, but this was complete bottom up. I only had a bearing knock, but decided to rebuild complete. Almost 2years gone and she still goes like a dream.

Dont write this car off because of this kind of amount. Maintenance on any M is not a walk in the park.

If you really dont want to sell her, repair and re-sell.
