Jezebel Engine Rebuild... Part 2

Yup, you read it right.

Jezebel is having her engine rebuilt... somewhat, again.

Some of you may know that I took her to the track this weekend, and well, she didn't even get to finish 2 laps before she through a valve and ate a spark plug.

Yes my fanatic friends. My beautiful BMW M3 that I've had for only 3 weeks through a valve after only doing 2 laps of Zwartkops raceway.

The car is with Burgy's mechanic Lee, who has already stripped the motor down. Cylinder 6 was the culprit. The Piston is ruined, and the head is pretty scratched too. General consensus says that the valves were worn out pretty bad and this was bound to happen sooner or later.

So, I've already ordered 24 new high performance Valves from VAC and one new CP piston to replace the damaged piston. The head is about to go off to be repaired and I got to sit and wait for the new parts to arrive before the rebuild can take place.

Someone said to me that if it seems to good to be true, it often is. I do somewhat feel this is the case, but I'm not going to give up on Jezebel.

Ouch!
good thing it has happened before the SC was added, it might have been worse.

Oh man this sucks.
Why did this happen? Did the valve touch the piston upon assembly when the new cams were installed or did it burn and then drop out?

Something else is that when one installs head studs in the block, they should actually stay in the block when undoing the nuts to take the head off, so something is not right there either.

Yup. The noise was a valve that was loose. Thanks Sav for not noticing and now a waste of money.

Lee doesn't think it was Sav's fault. He looked at the other valves and they too are in pretty poor shape.
