JB4 Maps

Hi All

I have been using Map5 as I found it to be better than Map2 in regards to driving feel.

I am now looking at possibly going to a Map6 fro Pump fuel to get a little more power and consistency :smilebounce:

Has anyone done this and what are the benefits over using Map2/5 ?

Also, who is the best when it comes to JB4 and custom Maps?
I know that this might be a biased answer so can recommendations please be based on who has done the most reliable work ?

I am not looking to do racing but like to enjoy my vehicle :fencelook:

I would try a map 7 with good fuel, before doing a custom Map 6.

What vehicle is this for? M135?

Also, do you have an aftermarket chargepipe?

Whats Map7 ? I fill Engine \ Sasol fuel only and have not used any boosters.

Map2 made 255wkw and Map6 that on currently (Needs additaves) made 273wkw witht he car pulling timing and power back because I had pump on.
Done at Innov8 Performance Dyno.

255wkw:praise:

Damn man - I have the same mods (besides filter) and I managed a humble 214wkw but I used map5.

Is yours N54?

Your power is way too low. Closer to stock power imo.

Thanks bud.

Its an N55 and sounds like your car is down on power or stingy dyno?
How many NM did you make?

Correction, Map6 did 284.4wkw and 586.6nm.

Map2 made 255wkw and 515nm

I do not remember exactly, but Map5 did 26*wkw and 6**nm

The owner helped fit the JB4 and was diagnosing a issue so we did lots of runs on the day.
Issue was related to an update and one of the connectors not being secured properly.

Who has a JB4 on Map6 with a Pump tune that can share some in-site?

As follows off the N54Tech Sticky:

"Map 7: Race gas map. Absolute target of 18.5psi. Requires straight unleaded race gas."

Map 6 is a user definable map and needs to setup and tuned.

I was under the assumption that your Map 6 wasn't setup which is why I suggest a Map 7 with fuel.

I guess the previous owner did a Map6 but it needs race fuel or Meth.

I do not want to run race fuel or any fuel boosters after reading that MP declined a claim for the M4 having it.

I am keen to run E85 as this is apparently accepted if mixed at 10% ?

Map 2 has a fixed max boost target and requires downpipes.

Map 5 is your best bet for reliable safe performance, and I must agree is better for daily driving, it will auto learn your fuel, mods, etc and adjust boost. Map 5 is not a dyno friendly map though.

Map 6 requires adequate knowledge especially when dialing in duty bias settings. The more knowledgeable guys can chime in, but setting a map 6 requires some good logging to ensure your PWM and FF are closely matched to reach the target boost levels you set on map 6.

If you are not looking at racing and just want to enjoy the car, forget map six set it to default and run map 5

Thanks for the information :bravo:

Will forget about Map6 for now and look into this fuel side :fencelook:

If I were you I wouldn't use that Map 6 if its not tuned to your car specifically. No 2 cars are exactly the same and should be tuned from scratch if there's a custom tune being loaded.

I personally don't believe that it was racefuel, rather ethanol that was included as evidence to refute that MP claim but everyone has different stories about it.

At the end of the day its your prerogative but I would use either Eth or racefuel (have done before) - depending on how your car takes to using them, which is why logging is very important. Log in Map 5 or 7 with either mix and get someone knowledgeable to read the logs. This is the only way you'll get solid consistent gains.

BMW says it can mix Eth at 10% on the lid so I don't think they can decline a claim for this?
I want to get the JB4 BT at some point so logging wont be impossible.

I have never used Map6, it was only used on the dyno for one pull.

Yo Vicks,

This was at Rennzport dyno day and I made very similar power to those around me with the same.

Shiks also said that I should not have dynode on map5 as apparently its not dyno friendly. Still though, I feel like my power is low, yet my butt dyno tells me something else...
