A question for you and Anile...
From your experiences what are the average figures for a tuned only 335/135 at the highveld (irespective of the tune) on the highveld dyno's?? This will also help rennzport with our gauging/planning

Well I don't think Anile8 is the right person to ask as he is at sea-level. But I would say 220-225kw is what most software only cars are doing up here at Snail from most of the tuning houses.

See you running AR Design DP's and water meths? This makes a major difference in terms of what boost you can run at altitude. Are you planning to go pass Snail sometime, am very interested to see what you dyno?

For the guys running JB3 tune only at altitude I definitely wouldn't recommend running anything higher than standard Map3, even then you may need to reduce the standard settings a bit using the adjustable parameters in custom Map1 for hotter temps. Given the altitude in conjunction with our lousy fuel dont expect to run close to what the yanks are using unless you have full mods and water meth.

BTW who fitted your AR design DP's for you? Have they brought out DP's for right hand drive vehicles, apparently one of the flanges for the O2 sensors catches in our RHD cars?

Good news indeed!!!
Are you running a modified board 15/18ohm? If you are on meth then perhaps you are ready for a new challenge? PM us for a conversation.

I have the first botched set with the flange in the wrong place which I repaired. They sent me a replacement set which is sitting in my garage as I am too lazy to fit and it seems the flanges are in the right place. Should fit them this weekend and will let you guys know.

In regard to the JB3 I think that it is very sensitive to plugs so if your cars have got more than 20,000km fit new plugs and you will be able to run slightly more aggressive maps. In my opinion the other problem with the JB3 at Altitude is that the boost ramps up too much too soon. This kills of the high end power.

Mt father has a big engineering shop and his guys fitted it for me but it was a big mission, not easy at all!
Ill be going to the dyno soon, fitting a bmw perforamce exhaust so car is stock now and I'm getting it back tomorow, so will fit everything this weekend.
I'm running a custom map from terry with the meth, but map 5 daily!!

No,sir
I'm still stock there, I'm waiting for you guys to do some nitrous on you car first and see how it goes!! I find everything works different here then in the usa!!!
So ill wait for some local experts/you to do it first, then we can talk!!!
And terry is planning big things for jb3 users in the next 2-3 mounths!!!

I should have nos fitted by end of July. Need to get to the track and do some record times and then fit.

Thanks for the info George, glad to see they've brought out a replacement set of flanges for RHD :excited: Only problem being with DP's is that to keep the motorplan I would need to take out for each service:bawling: How much you guys reckon to remove & re-fit?

Yep, JB3 is definitely hard on the plugs at altitude. As per my other post, I've recently gone back to stock and found the car just wasn't feeling right. So went back to Snail and dynoed again, had lost like 15-20kw! When comparing the dyno graph to the previous stock run the lines were exactly the same up until 3500-4000 rpm where the new dyno line started to drop. Sherwin had a look and suggested I change plugs. Finally got the plugs done this morning (after major hassels trying to find the right specialisted BMW socket tool, but thats another thing) Plugs seemed black & burnt, not the usual brownish colour, even the white ceramic part on the outside near the core was yellow? They must have been getting really hot? Anyways the car feels much stronger again :) Thanks for the help Sherwin....looking forward to Saturday

Ill get all the details for you from the guy who did it, when and where!
His running jb3, forge dvs, ets intercooler, ar dps and a quaife diff!!
But if I'm not mistaken it was at a ford event, but could be wrong!!! Ill get the details!
Your best time up to now, and what are your mods on the car, I know you've done 12,5?

Dude thats such a small world , i also live in Ruimsig :)

I done my run at ODI, february if i remember correctly

But remember im stock, no mods at all and i ran a 13.4 :)
runflats and pump fuel

I won my open class though, was up against a few modded scooby's and a few modded S3's :)

iirc, George Smooth has run a 12.5 in his 335i, but could be mistaken, i know he is in the 12's though :)
