JB mapped E90 LCI 320d < Stock F30 320i ?????

Whats your guys take on this?

E90 LCI 320d - JB mapped against a F30 320i stock (new with 160km on the clock)

Rolling run on the highway and the F30 starts to open the 320d. Once the F30 got into its higher gears it starts to pull away with lots of ease

Is the F30 320i - under rated in terms of power quoted ?

Was told this JB 320d makes about 115kw at the wheels with some 400nm which equates to roughly 148kw at the fly vs the F30 that is quoted at 135kw at the flywheel

I am no aficionado but must say that I am very impressed with the F30 320i. To me it feels much more lively than my E90 323i!?!:fencelook:

100% agreed.

I test drove F30 320i vs F30 320d back to back and honestly on every single try the petrol just seemed to be stronger. Really thought this was a mind game more than anything else. I then went on to test drive a few other cars in the same power bracket and then back into F30 320i and even then the 320i just felt stronger. I have a feeling BMW under quoted the power of the 320i or maybe its the 8speed box that delivers this power faster. I dont know.

Nice to hear other opinions as well ?

I think you hit the nail on the head with the gearbox. having 8gears means in most instances, its very spritely with its in gear accelaration.

Also a thing to remember is, that the 320i and 328i are basically the same, with different boost levels so effectively you have a 328i in the making with some software

Your 320i is quicker, remember it's boosted compared to the NA 323i.

The quoted figures from BMW are pretty similar, making the results surprising.

Having driven the F30 320d I can vouch that it is far from a slouch, but these new petrol engines are demons.

I saw this last night was was in farking shock ! :praise:

I'm sure the longer legs of the 320i helps alot.

Brand new and stock impressed me last night. Some mods and and it will really come alive.

Oh, Shaun, that colour with the Mpack is a winner. :inlove:

When you compare the specs from BMW

320d 2.0 L 184 PS (135 kW; 181 hp) @4000 380 N·m (280 lb·ft) @1750-2750 7.5 (7.6) 235 km/h (146 mph) (230 km/h (143 mph)

320i 2.0 L 184 PS (135 kW; 181 hp) @5000 270 N·m (199 lb·ft) @1250-4500 7.3 (7.6) 235 km/h (146 mph) (235 km/h (146 mph))

It comes down to driving style since diesel and petrol are 2 different styles.
That's my 2 cents for the day

last week on the way to work I met up with a white F30 320i and I was in my 320D E91 with a remap (I think my car goes well) I should say I thought it did. We had a couple of pulls and I thought I would give him a carrot and then we pulled up to a robot and F&^%K me he handed me my ass on a silver platter. Those things Fly.

I was taken back on the way that car pulled off.

I was confused by the:
320d 7.5 (7.6)
320i 7.3 (7.6)
now i see the brackets are the auto times...

the extra RPM on the petrol allows it to run a shorter gear ratio...

thats why it is quicker even though the diesel puts out more torque at the engine the petrol's ratio allows it to put out more torque to the road...

Something tells me the F30 320i will stick with or beat a 155kW Golf 6 GTI :fencelook:

Maybe it needs some scientific experiments:fencelook:
