Am back from the States. What an amazing month. Wow...

Car is up and running. Smoothest I've ever heard the engine run.

Will post more updates in time.

Always nice to see a car come back to life! I'm sure you're more than glad that you didn't give up on it. I know the rest of us are too!
A few vids of it up and running are in order

So Crash, whats the latest?

Car is back at Kamal having oil replaced as engine is run in now. He's doing some tests on her before he hands her over. Had some Vanos issues that are now sorted.

Should have her back tomorrow.

With that being said... This is the first time since I have owned her (4 years) that she has been error free. NOT ONE SINGLE error on the DME.

When I bought her in 2012, she had 2 errors that would never go away. 02 sensor error post cat (I was told to ignore this because the car was decatted) and exhaust Temperature sensor error. Even after Peter's rebuild, those errors were still there, as well as a new error, Vanos adaptation.

All errors are now gone.

I want to share a little story with you guys. Something I found quite cool. One of the mechanics working with Kamal used to live in Cape Town where he worked as a mechanic on BMWs. Back in 2009 and 2010 he would work on a Carbon Black M3 driven by a one MattQ. Now some of you know this to be the previous owner of my car. Yes, this mechanic used to work on my car before I even owned her. He rebuilt the engine before moving up here to Johannesburg, so when I arrived with my car in June last year, his eyes almost popped out of his head when he recognized the car.

That being said, he has never seen the car error free, so when Kamal and his team were able to get her up and running sans errors, the mechanic proceeded to do kartwheels in the shop.

Beautiful sight...

Anyway... Should get her tomorrow and she can finally rev freely.
