So today is the day for delivery of my E38 740i and the car refuses to start at all .:thumbdo:

I am being told that since the battery was removed for 3 months the immobiliser has desynched and thereof does not want to allow the car too start ?????

Anyone one with the required knowledge does that sound right ?
Is that possible ?

looks like the ews transponder in the steering column

Redline just went through this whole episode. I "tried" to help him out and researched the problem.

What could have happened is the battery went flat with the key in the ignition and the EWS and key are no longer synched. (This is NOT the same as the EWS-ECU synch) it is another pain in the ass problem.

Do not leave the key in the ignition or on when disconnecting the battery, unless you have R3500 laying around.

Either use the spare key (if you have one) or PM Redline to find out who sorted his out, cost hom around R1500 to wipe the EWS and reporgam.

Indeed,

Used a fellow Trevor at Autotronic Genius in Parrow, had her up and running in 30 mins at a cost of R1500
