Hey there,

I'm the new guy. I'm just wanting to know if my dream is too lofty.

I'm looking for a BMW 740i E38, I don't want to spend 90k like I've seen people try sometimes sell it for (I think that's a bit crazy for such an old car which would also have pretty hectic millage). I want it with a millage equal to or under 150,000 km. Black preferably, or that blue.

How possible is this, nowdays? I'm also currently without a car, so you should feel sorry for me.

Talking of 250K-km I would encourage you to look at the tensioner-guide-deflection rails on that car of yours as they become brittle at about 200K and disentrigrate causing a fair amount of damage.

So I've been told that cars like the 740i, that have 150k millage and below is still relatively young for the car and the engine. That they go for much longer.

How true exactly is that? Is it a pretty safe assumption?

I would definitely go for an e38, especially as it is hell of a lot of car for the price. I would imagine parts are easy to come by as a lot will be scraped as repairs are often more than the car is worth? Am i right?

If I was get one I would say I am spending R70,000 but tell the wife you spent 90,000. That gives you 20,000 to fix stuff up when it breaks
