iPod cable for USB connection in E90

Hi there. Using my standard ipod USB cable, my iDrive screen displays a list of folders and subfolders, but in some sort of code (eg F01, F02; CFKH, JSHK etc). Looking at the bmw website it seems i have to pay R1000 for the official BMW cable which may allow me to see the proper artists, songnames etc. Does anyone else have a better solution than being forced to pay R1000??

I have the original cable...never used...the ipod cable does the same thing...look the same anyway...you can have the original cable for a KWV, 10 year old brandy (R350.00)...

The car is 2009 model.

are you in JHB? if the cable works then the deal sounds good! (or can give you 3 cases of beer which you can have a lot more fun with!!)

I never used it because the 36gig usb flash drive is a better option for me and small as a penny, including the short cable... i never take it out other than to add music and charges by itself...displays folder names and song titles...way too many songs on...don't get through the michael jackson albums :)

The more i play around with the thing to understand your problem, the more it appears to be a software issue and not a BMW hardware one. What software do you use to upload songs/videos onto the ipod?
