instrument cluster problem

hi guys, i own a bmw e28 520i automatic!
can anybody please tell me if i can remove the two batteries in the instrument cluster and if the instrument cluster will still work without them?????? thanks!!

Why do you want to remove the batteries??

if you remove the batteries your service light indicator will no longer work. rest should all function normally, the batteries maintain the lights if the battery is disconnected.
Easier option is to just replace those batteries they are around R20 each, however........when taking the cluster apart, please be extreemly careful not to damage the ribbon cable, that runs between the components. If you need parts I have parts I took from 2x spare clusters.
