Had the same warning on the iDrive display a little while back, car started fine etc but 30sec's after switching off car but leaving radio on it would ping and come up with that message. Had my battery tested and they reported 2 bad cells. Changed the battery and message still persisted. It appears that the car 's electronics need to be paired or something to the new battery. My message stopped after having the error codes read - so I am not sure if they cleared it from the memory or not.

In your case I would take the car to a battery centre and have them test the battery for bad cells and see from there - if not then there is something causing a drain on the system - which is like looking for a needle in a hay stack unless you are a wizard with electronics/electrics and have the required tools for the job. I would suggest if you are up in GP to speak to Gert on the Forum at OBDWorx.

tx Bud,

the Battery is from Battery centre, second one they have changed, the Guy assured me these batteries are BMW spec as they are from National Battery I think, same supplier to Bmw.

I know Gert well OBDWorx.. will ask him to run a diagnostic for me.

not sure what the OBD2 connector is, I am assuming its the plug connector from on board port to laptop...if so no.

Correct. I would suggeat then to get in touch with gert. But does sound like a bad battery if nothing has changed, worse case scenario a bad regulator but doubt it. Got to a battery center and let them do a test for you.

Battery Center looking at R1200 to R1400, BMW probably R2k, R3200 seems excessive, I could be wrong.
