Hi there guys,im new here and in desperate need of some advice, i just purchased a 318i e30 cabriolet,was running perfectly fine for about two days then bam,no ignition but still maintained power(lights and deck still works). A jump start gets the car started however the rev jumps and it backfires profusely. I started by checking firing order,was fine,changed plugs,no difference,took it to a mechanic,now after 3 days the mechanic says its the starter...is that possible? can a starter cause no ignition lights and backfiring when the car eventually starts...
