I got hold of the lads at BMW SA and the short version is

The car stays on runflats of the same size it came with or M/P is history.

NOT COOL.

Are the bridgestones the best?
What should I be paying

roboman...

I know it's the crappiest thing out there to stay on RFT's. One thing i can say for sure is don't let autoquip do it cause they go up to 4,300 a tyre.. that according to me is a no go..

I did some shopping the other day and they had specials on the bridgestones and imo they not bad at all. They were asking 2700 a tyre compared to just over 3k usually..

Even though the ride is harder on the RFT's i would stay on them though, not only because i don't have a spare in the car but because i for one would hate to be sitting next to the road trying to change a damn tyre on a uneven surface.. Jacking my car up with the risk of it moering off the jack..
Sorry but that i don't wanna do and for the simple fact that you don't know who would stop and decide to borrow your wallet and whatever else you have with you on a permanent basis.

SO purely from a safety point of view i would stay with RFT's.

Just something i saw quickly now is..

Also have a look at one of our forum sponsors the wheel shop and see what they have.. :)

TWT have Hankook runflats which are priced well, depending on your tyre size and phase of the moon.

Yep, silly because they are a lot better than the continental RFT's. Also they are as far as I know only available in 17" size, not 18" or bigger...

If you are in JHB try Mintys in Rosebank, they always have the best deals. I paid R1750each for 225/45/17 Bridgestone RE050AI RFT, both TWT and BMW were asking over R2100 each and Hi-Q was even more.

Please get prices from BMW dealers.
I could get a runflat tyre from them cheaper than Hi Q

I did mine today, Bridgstone Potenza 255/40/17 V rating for 335i. BMW for 2 weeks no stock and stories (they come labelled for BMW USE ONLY). HI-Q was the cheapest of everyone I phoned, not a stock item but they got 2 within 2hrs of my order. Still cost 3600 ea and then done the wheel alignment f and b total R7450.RFT are a harder ride AND LIKE TO FOLLOW THE RUTS IN THE ROAD, especially if you have the sports suspension, but so far no pothole damage in 20000km and in my area roads are really upto shit. Had a friend of mine get a steel rod right through the side at 140kmh with no side affects and still drove from Harrismith to V-town.

Funny enough was at local BMW dealer for a replacment grill (R400) damaged by a mossie on the breakfast run on Sunday.. was another guy also enquiring about tyres..no stock!!

I suppose also depends on your area and who you know..In any event you gonna lighten your wallet considerably:cry:

Oh and the funny thing is..when u think u got a good deal..its guaranteed the next day youll find them at an even better price..murphys law!!!
