Where are you based in ct ?

im in monte vista, across the bridge from McDonalds N1 city.

People recommend Garage 808 that side.

thank you , im not familiar with the name, but i will find out.

last night, i unplugged the MAF, the idle dip slightly , but was SO much smoother and the revs were clean too , then i plugged it back and the little bit of hunting was back, now untill i clean the MAF, im not sure if it was just a poor connection , or just coincidence.

the cold start this morning was surprisingly smooth, though the oil level light came on , but ive concluded that its a faulty sensor, seeing that the oil level is good.

Yes that definitely the sensor that shot, common problem actually.

That means you MAF is also gone bud. You will notice there is more power when driving without it as well. I would suggest keeping it unplugged until you find a new one, not sure if a cleaning will help. If I remember correctly the cost around R2000

You can give me a shout if you need the codes read. Seems your camshaft sensor also needs replacing. Definately MAF. Removing and cleaning ICV and DISA is very easy. Did mine a few weeks back and sorted out the problem of my car going into limp mode (throttle body stays open because of build up).

Shot, are you available the weekend sometime ? id like to have somebody see the car and its symptoms, to confirm certain issues i think is present on the car.

you know, i purchased this car because it was well looked after, with full service history, but everyday i am more convinced that i have been taken for a ride by the salesman.

as soon as i hit 20 posts  i will be posting the car in the for sale thread.

Sure, just drop me a pm. Don't get too discouraged. We have all been through it. Sometimes its just stupid things like a wire thats not grounded correctly or a dirty sensor.

Yes don't sell it, it might seem like huge issues now but most of the time it's something small. When my DISA went I actually though the worst due to the sound I got, but was just a fix. As Chris mentioned, most of the time they are just dirty and not even broken

I had an idling issues as well and while driving these jerks but I replaced all my oil breather (was very brittle and broken when it came off) and water pipes... cleaned idle valve and sensors with brake cleaner... car runs smoother and feels more alive...

Had no errors on diagnostics besides the aircon relay switch but that is common on my car it was just a capacitor that required replacing on the aircon unit.

i dont have an issue with BMW as such, i just hate that my MORE RELIABLE vehicle (the bmw) is also giving issues (however big or small), the opel has a career of faults, and i chose bmw as my wifes daily driver because of its reliability as a daily, but thats questionable with this particular one. ask me anything regarding the OPC/GTC motors and problem solving, and ill answer 90% of them, i dont know everything :=):.

its frustrating that i need to do the same fault-finding , resource- building exercise with bmw, like i did with the opel. it took 4 years.

i owned 2 BMW's in the past, RGM chipped, zorst e36 M3 4dr (immaculate - sold), and an e60 545i (written off due to water entering the motor, bmw quoted R250k for new motor).

i am set-out on getting a F30 335i. or the e60 M5 v10. but thats in the distant future.

right now there are priorities that are much more important then cars.
