Idle

Hi

Noticed last night that when I stopped at a robot the revs where 'bouncing' between 500 & 800 rpm they would settle out after a few seconds.

This morning everything is perfect. I read that it could be a vacuum leak but then would'nt it idle like that all the time? I also read that the idle control valve is a common issue.

Does this sound more like a leak or icv?

Thanks

Idling control valve for sure if it levels out after a few seconds , rev it and does it again and then levels out!

Take it off clean it with Spirits, methanol or carb cleaner, and some ear buds! it carbons up and the valve gets sticky!

On E36 325i it sits under the inlet manifold , has an electrical plug on the front end and two rubber hoses onto it . I found soaking it in paraffin and shaking it till the inner parts moved freely worked .
