Idle and Asc problem

My 2001 318i E46 is giving endless problems. I am fed up.

For years now the idling giving a problem. Refs are up and down, it vibrates very bad as it goes up and down. Sometimes all of a sudden it goes sky high when I at a robot or so, then I press the gas hard and it goes down. Now more and more it goes so low the car dies on me. This meaning I will be driving and when slowing down it dies, or I slow to go around a curve and it dies.

Then about two months ago just as I start driving the ASC comes on, on the dash. The brakes will bite and let go, bite and let go. It does that for about 2 km then it goes away. What is up with that? We did check all fuses.

I have read up about problem 1 and lots say might be crank sensor?

Oh another problem, it is heavy on petrol, if I switch on the fan you have to kill it after about two minutes as you want to die of the petrol fumes (odor)

Any help please.

Is it the N42 engine ? Have you checked for intake leaks? I had the same issues last month , turned out to be a leak on the intake boot ( that hard plastic box at the bottom below the soft rubber pieces was cracked ) . Haven't wrote about my issue yet . But after fixing the leak the cars performing much much better.

You should also read the codes . If your getting petrol fumes in your cabin , there has to be a leak somewhere or your injectors are leaking ? I don't think thats safe . Check all your fuel lines . Maybe the cars over fueling as well to compensate ?
