To those of you who've never seen this car in person, or met @icechilli, a few things you need to know are that Icechilli is THE most modest person you'll ever encounter, and, as a result, this thread doesn't truly reflect the magnitude of this 1M. In light of this, I hope icechilli doesn't mind me giving my impression on his car;
I've been around the car quite a few times, and every time I see it, it makes me feel like the little kid I used to be, marveling at 325iS's and worshiping E36 M3's. You know, that child who judges how fast a car is by the last number on the speedometer. This 1M just has sheer presence like nothing you've ever encountered. The first element of the exterior that'll grab your attention is the Valencia Orange Metallic paint work. This car's no garage queen, but looking at the paint finish will lead you to believe otherwise, just because of how well taken care of she is. The VOM paint is undoubtedly bright, but never gets anywhere near becoming tacky and never grows old. Regardless of the lighting you see the car in, the color's nothing short of breathtaking. The carbon fibre diffuser at the rear, coupled to the carbon fibre bootlip add just the right amount of aggression of the car, also adding contrast against the paintwork. The lowered springs were never fitted to the car to be cosmetic, but boy do they make a difference. The perfectly spaced OEM wheels beautifully fill the wide 1M shoulders and hips. The car looks like it's going along at top speed, even when parked. There are nights when @B///Moodley and I just stand around and stare at the car unknowingly, mid conversation, once even while having dinner with the car visible from the restaurant window!
The sound. JEEEEEZ. From inside, the custom exhaust system, mated to the Akrapoviç rear silencer is just loud enough. When driven at moderate speed, you'd be forgiven for thinking you're hearing a stock N54. But hit the remote Akra button to switch the system to race mode and so much as flex your right foot and she makes music. Though she's force inducted, the signature BMW NA 6 cylinder soundtrack that many an enthusiast hungers for is clearly evident. Then the turbo spool, heard with the aid of the injen intake system, comes into the equation, followed by the dumpvalve, which sounds like a whip being cracked in an old western movie. Part of this eargasm is the definitive explosion of fuel going through the exhaust system. This is loud enough to scare other motorists in the vicinity, but not JDM-loud.
Onto one thing that may have had purists' cringe throughout this post; a limited edition, holy grail BMW being modified. Well, rest assured. The car is in no way butchered. Every little modification has done nothing but amplify the experience of being in a 1M, be it as a passenger, or the driver.
I was given the opportunity to drive this car, TWICE! I've been in countless other cars, be it stock, mildly modified, heavily modified, supercars, even a proper Mk4 Supra... And nothing comes close.
Icechilli's 1M Is currently my Facebook profile picture, whatsapp profile picture, Facebook cover photo, forum signature, cellphone wallpaper, heck, there's even a photograph of it in my bedroom, printed out by my S/O because she knows how in love I am with this car.... It really is unlike anything else on the planet.
