My experience

Thanks to my insanely awesome wife who booked this as a birthday surprise, it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I got to run the car flat out through most of the 20 laps that I did at Killarney. It was my first time on track and first time behind the wheel of the M3 DCT. I learnt to push myself beyond my previous driving limit and test the limits of the car as well. It was just toooo awesome.

The car was flat out through most sessions as I had an awesome instructor, the M just screaming at 8500 plus revs in each gear, clipping the curbs and powering out the exits of the bends. The build up to the straights and the straights was heavenly as you went full throttle and very hard on the brakes to slow for the hairpins all the time while gearing down and negotiating the bends while still building power to exit and then flat out again. We had a small drag race with one of the other cars as they demonstrated the launch control and we had some drifting at the end too..:inlove:

Most of us already believe that the M3 is a great car but after an experience like this I have come to think that it is so much more...
To all the M3 drivers on the forum and everyone else, if you haven't experienced the M on the track like this then you haven't really seen the true potential of what this car can really do....

To end, I will be acquiring one in the not too distant future...just need to find a plan on how to keep the 335 and still get the M..:flyfun:

Have some vids but don't know how to post them...(help)

Sure is...I did the fastest speed down the main straight for the M3's on the day with a clock speed of 210km in the car but 199km according to Killarneys speed gun. The M5's was whole different story but I did manage to pass one...but that was in no way due to the car cos that thing is just.:praise:

Very nice, any idea of the cost?
The wifey paid 4K which was cheap as they normally cost abit more plus I got to have a car to myself while the other guys shared cars and had turns to go around the track. This also meant that I got to do more laps than anyone else.:joy:
It is worth every penny and more plus we had a nice lunch too..

Think I am gonna look into this!! Thanks man!! Glad you enjoyed yourself! I am finding that the M3 is a completely different car here in CT compared to how it was in JHB, like chalk and cheese, so I get what you're saying about it!

Thats what the instructor said as well. He said they were really enjoying them so much more down here due to the altitude as all the m cars were brought down from JHB. The first time that they brought so many at once to CPT.

BMW (South Africa) will be running three High Performance courses at Killarney Race Track on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th April, there are a few seats still open.  The difference with this High Performance course from the others that we have done is that it will be done purely in BMW M vehicles – M3, M5, M6 and X6M.

This is a unique situation and will not be repeated as these vehicles are usually reserved for M customers only.

If you are interested in doing a BMW M High Performance Course, you can book by calling BMW’s bookings line on 0861 BMWDRIVE or 0861 269 374.

Bookings are on a first come first served basis.

The cost of the courses are as follows:

M3         R4000 pp

M5         R4500 pp

M6         R5000 pp

X6M       R5000 pp

 Awesome, I know just what you on about.

It's a great feeling , isn't it- Handles like ago cart and fantastic brakes too.
Now, what makes this so different from your 335 cos since I joined the Forum there has been lots of talk about how the 335 ( with software of course) would kill the M3 in a straight line and I've tried to describe what you've just done on your post.

I'm pleased for you... It's an experience all M lovers must try

I know it has been posted to death, but for anyone who hasn't experienced the difference in an //M car between Gauteng altitude and sea level.. Boy, oh boy. That is a virginism you should deflower as soon as possible! Life up here in an M-car is an anti-climax. :thumbdo:
