This is what modern cars look like, unfortunately.

Here are a few old pics of the car

The boot lid had a few cracks and dents on it, so I knocked the metal back down and resprayed after these were taken.
I will see if I can quickly upload some more recent ones.

Stunning! :inlove:

Yep, sadly most production cars just don't have the best overall paint finishes - the E90 in particular is known to have very noticeable orange peel! More so than say a typical E46 for instance!

Yeah, it is mostly due to the regulations on paint VOC's, most modern car's are painted with a water based paint to avoid VOC tax(although I am not sure locally) In some places in the world it is illegal to paint with urethane based paints:nonono:

Stunning..
do you mind sharing where did you get that paint job done?
Thanks, I dot the paint job done at a little place with a perfectionist owner.
 I did it in my garage with a cheap compressor, a HVLP spray gun and many sheets of 2500 grit sand paper, and even more polish...

I built a pvc tent-like spray booth, but I really need a strong extractor fan as dust is still a problem. But there is a 4x4 customizing shop that had a down-draft spray booth built for bakkie bed linings, but it has not been used in years, so I might ask the owner if I can use that next time.
