How to remove heat shrink caps in DME

Hey chaps,

Since the 335 really has no power in stock form:rollsmile:, I was told that I needed the JB4 to assist. So I bought one!

During an attempted install, I got to the DME, I noticed that the wires I needed to connect to (those that control the exhaust flap) were heat-shrinked with glue:smashScreen:

How do I get these off without messing these up as the car is still under MP?

I fear that a heat gun may damage the shield, wire or worse...

Yip, know that but the wires in the DME is what I'm querying. I don't know how to remove the heat shrink caps to connect the jb4.

What car is this and what motor? Post a pic of your Jb4 harness please... I am trying to figure out what heat shrink harness your talking about and how does the exhaust flap have anything to do with initial install.

It's a N55 with type B harness.

I'm referring to the 2 wires we connect to the ecu. The jb harness is not the issue, its the ecu wires that we connect the jb harness to. These are the 'red bunch' and 'blue bunch' which have the heat shrink caps (with glue).

Will try and get some pics.

They simply come off by "unscrewing them". Join JB4 wires to it - brown to red bunch and green to blue bunch. Then put shrink caps back by "screwing" them back on.....easy peasy

Maybe in the older e90s. In mine these are heat shrinked caps with glue. So you can't "unscrew them".

I've seen a number of e90 Owner’s merely unscrew these and pull these off. Seems like the manufacturers got hardcore afterwards.
