How to pull out E46 auto gearknob

Anyone know how to pull out the auto gear knob on a E46? On a manual, I know you just pull it straight up, but the auto has the little switch in front and I don't want to damage that....

I have a E90 auto and the gear knob just pulls out like on a manual. But send me your last 7 digits of your VIN number and I can look it up on TIS.

I also just pulls out. Just DONT turn the knob while you pull it out otherwise you may shear off the turning lock inside the handle. Pull off by a forceful tug.

A nice good jerk should get it to pop right off, and if you can't find a jerk a tug like Hellas said will also work

Just be careful of you face, as you don't want to go giving your self a black eye.

If you do this wrong, DIY would mean Dark eye yourself... Careful on the pull like the guys said :wave:

This is one Knob you pull carefully otherwise it cumes in your eye.

I did it, I did it.....

Sat between the seats with one leg on the passenger side and one on the drivers side and yanked it out. Was quite an effort, but eventually came free.

Just glad I got a garage - I don't recommend doing this while your car is parked on the side of the road :mmm: you might get some strange looks
