How to launch the 335?

Hi Guys

I have a question for all the bimmer experts out there

How do you/the best way to launch the 335i?

I have the auto (no paddle shift)

Ive seen video's on youtube of guys somehow getting the revs close to 2000-2500 rpm and then launching like a bat out of hell

How do they do this, is it just a matter of holding the brake?

Also, what mode to use for say a 400m sprint? DSC on?Off?All driving aids off? etc etc etc

Any help would be appreciated

My launch:
switch to DS mode and apply force to throttle...

Keep DSC on @moment of launch and after 2 sec tap off DSC (press fully) for the 400 sprint.

I keep DSC ON for the 0 - 100 sprint, had too many problems with car not knowing what the fck is happening when DSC is disabled AFTER a forced launch - also way less wheel spin.

Disable DSC before forced launch is great fun but you lose valuable time spinning off the mark and the car seems to jump to second gear on its own.

I don't use the paddle shift for 0-100 sprints even though one can get better launches due to the fact that you can control keeping the car in second & third gear longer...i panick too easily when the adrenaline pumps and forget all the buttons to press...:)

has anyone tried launching in 2nd gear?
DS mode, foot on brake, build revs to 2000-2500 rpm (?) and launch.... doing it in 2nd though, you cannot push the accelerator all the way pass the "kickdown" point else it will just shift back into 1st if u mash it

When i raced with my bros 335 i torque braked until 2000rpm with DSC off. I turned dsc back on when i reached about 100. The car is flipping strong and with a simba chip theres no limit

No I have'nt tried that...i tell you i have really dumb feet...its as nervous as the driver...it only knows how to put lead on the accelerator pedal

Map 9 on JB3v1.4, first gear does not engage under hard launch due to the agressiveness of the race map...it goes straight to second gear...oh so nice :)...and i don't have to build the revs...just DS and plant dai foot!!

The N54 motor has tremendous tuning potentional and we will see some nasty tuned versions when warranty periods come to an end. But i have to remind myself the 335 is not an M derivative. The e46 M is a special car period and those who own them, know it is not just about brute power or straightline performance but about overall "M" behaviour on the road and track and that distinguishes it from the rest....okay that was my Oprah moment...but i will not swop my 335 for an e46 or even an e93 M3 (V8)...i love the sound and kick of those turbos way too much.

You should see how many 335i's are coming into Auto Glen BMW for issues and repairs. My friend Roger is inundated with turbo replacements, cam replacements, carbon build-up on the intake manifold and a few other things. They are costing BMW Motorplan a shitload, guess you guys are really getting the worth of your 335i's, hey you payed a shitload to begin with...

Provided you keep it stock, BMW really look for signs of tampering and abuse, anything to screw you on the motorplan thing...

And there's your answer right there to any modder-to-be...

u have 7 yrs mplan.. If they sell cars with problems, they must repair
These problems hit many stock cars.. So its not just mod related.

When I have semi slicks, I turn everything off and use the brake technique. Normally around 1900rpm does the trick . You mustn't hold it for too long on the brakes as it stores a fault code. On the run flats I just turn everything off go DS and boot it.

IIRC, there was a campaing out for the carbon buildup on the intake ports of the N54. Stock or modded, they both have the issue/
