Hi peeps.

Not much of an update installed the new suspension components and I have finally ordered some M3 arms for more camber

As I am now using a mid sump there is clearance issues by the steering rack mounts.

I have made some custom spacing plates and awaiting for them to be drilled out so I can install them as I test fitted and it just works.

My radiator is also getting modified.

I have also decided to get my power steering high pressure pipe to get shortened

Hi peeps.

Take2

Been nearly a month since my last update. Life and work has been keeping me busy lol

So I received these from overseas. Finally !!!

They are TRW E90 M3 lower control arms. They have ball joints and are slightly longer which give you more camber so with the camber plates this means I will have -1.5 camber

These are slightly longer than non m3 and e87 arms. They have ball joints instead of rubber bushes and I needed to shave off 1mm from the one side to get them to fit

The reason that there is some of the arm grinded is BMW actually use this same arm and it actually had a BMW logo on it

Got the plates back and they were drilled

I have to use some of the plates together as with the new sump it was touching the steering rack mounts

With the spaces I got the below result. I realized that I need new mounts made as these are making the motor not being centered

I acquired some oil coolers. The one is for the power steering and the other is for engine oil

I plan on installing these where the brake inducts are. At an angle for now just doing a test fit

This is what it looks like now

Also picked up a 3.73 radio diff. I currently have a 3.46. So it should be a nice upgrade

Hi guys. Been super lazy lol.

Finally got to an update.

So this is my current exhaust system

b4108239e219b885e27cd2313bcccc4c.jpg

I was told it was a 57mm to a 76mm and I then found this

Finally mounted my dipstick. Ghetto install

I want to try keep the body as stock looking as I can but sometimes I will need to make exceptions. I have plans for the fro t bumper to have some cooling holes.

The below pic is where the red holes will be. The yellow bar will be a strengthening bracket to the bonnet catch area has no flex which will be mounted with a bracket to the support bar

6fa079c07f6349eeaecaa42027a227a8.jpg

The reason I cut this out is the guy I took it too just decided to cut a hole in it so I decided I am just gonna make it bigger and actually make it work. This is why the bumper is gonna have holes

Before

After

The only part the radiator got air was from the kidney grills and bottom grille would go under the radiator like on the pic below

4e05f28836d0fce437c81eb69d4c1201.jpg

It also had a temp sensor in the top of the radiator so when you were riding on the highway the fan system would think the car is cool when actually it’s hot and wants to over heat. Also the fan setup was a pistol setup and not a pull one.

Another fail on the custom modified radiator

Port 1

dc9e1a9dfa0c4be16b8033742376830c.jpg

Port 2 the custom port

1a77a2cbd95cd8a62d3fe3fb8b13dcd5.jpg

a5a688da84d7f6ef265609bea8766774.jpg

So water flow was now restricted and when he gave me the car back he gave it to me with water

So my new setup will be a core from a 740i radiator with custom side tanks and I have a new fabricator. So all should hope work out and I will be running a low temp Bmw fan switch with dual 14” fan with a pulling setup.

Thanks for the support and more updates to follow soon

I say don't cut the holes in the bumper just my 2c

I agree.

Rather build ducting to direct the air into the radiator, or at least block off any "escape routes" around the radiator.

Great thread! Would have preffered it to be BMW powered, but amazed at the work done on improving the car you bought.

A big thanks to rsgordini for setting up the sale

So after much consideration and some of the comments and advice here I have decided to go for the 135i style bumper as it has much better ventilation as I plan on running on an oil cooler and power steering cooler.

What I didn’t realize is now I need a new bonnet as this preface lift models doesn’t fit right and there is a big gap
