Hija, i have the E90 330i and i've had it almost a year with over 120k on the clock it's still going strong (Motorplan till 130k) so i've got to know the car's service history and behaviour - and it's my 1st BMW and loving it. I'm on the coast so no worries about lack of power against the hot hatch's, Merc's, Audi's etc. Awesome for day to day driving and then when you want to drive it like you stole it, it'll put a grin on your face. Driving in the Cape on wet mountain roads can be great fun if you want it to be, especially when the Mrs ain't in the car!

Yes the golf has 1200km's on the clock still brand new! The factory claims 155kw on engine.. on our dyno it made 151kw @ wheels! The mazda 3 MPS claims 191kw and made 135kw on our dyno!
the new golf is very very under rated! plus the new one has 100% electroninc diff lock and awesome gearing! just needs a BMW badge and ill order mine!
@Riyaad bud what is your budget more or less! there are some nice ones on the market with extended MP's.. plus you can always extend it!
for around R320k you can buy a 335i..

I had a run with a Golf6 GTI a few months ago. The driver raced me on the N1 and then he suggested we go off at Old Oak into LaBelle road Stikland. We did 3 pull aways robot to robot and I beat him every time. He still wanted to race but I told him I've had enough besides the fact that I beat him everytime, whats the point. And this was in my stock standard e46 330i.
Maybe he had a bad car? Don't think so, otherwise he wouldn't be so trying.

Could be, I'm older now but still when a "dice" comes along I feel the adrenalin LOL. I must admit the golf is a beautifull car. The worst of the Golf's is at least discontinued aka the Citi golfs.
When I had the decat done on the MCoupe at Powerflow a Golf fan pitched up in his Caddy Pickup. I was sitting on the side watching the work progress when I couldn't help overhearing what this dude had to say. He came for an exhaust fix after his own freeflow fabrication seemed to be a bit over optimistic. He walked up to the MCoupe mumbling "What de F..k is this car?" pointing to the MCoupe. The guy working on my car told him it is a Z3 MCoupe. Ah he said, a BMW, I ride circles around them with my car. The dude under the car stopped working, looked at him and asked him, what with? He pointed to the 1600 Caddy pickup. The mechanic started laughing so the dude got a bit upset and told him in no uncertain terms that the Caddy had a hot cam job done. That's when I remembered the TV advert where the oke dumps his parachute for a falling VW. The theme of the ad was so fitting--In a VW, you think you can!:clap:

LOL bud.. you know how many times we got golfs and corsa's asking a price on a stage 4 cam! not gasflow or other head work just a stage 4 cam for a 1.3 or 1.6.. they miss the point there! and when you try to help him right you hear of his uncle, friend or cousin with a stage 4 cam racing M3's..:slap:

330D with software or chip will make you very happy in that price range! as it is very economical and runs low 14s with chip or software! which is ahead of stock E46 M3's up here!
our 330D with a DASTEK uniQ chip made 178kw and 630nm on the wheels!
My other buy will be a C32 AMG Merc which is also an awesome and quick car.. monster when tuned!

There's just something about a diesel car that does not do it for me.
I was behind one the other day and he changed down and there was a puff of diesel smoke from the exhaust.
C32 AMG very nice car, but I'm more of a BMW fan.
Maybe i will drive a 330d as well, so u not a big fan of the 330i

No i am a big fan of the 330i.. awesome cars and very quick on the free way! ill buy one any day! But if you what a robot to robot beast and a comfy ride the 330d is the way to go!
Yes tuned diesel cars does have a diesel smoke! reason is with diesels the more diesel you put in the equation the more power you make! but to much will brake the car! so with diesels you can add fuel and keep the car flat foot under load on the dyno for a bit of time and measure the exhaust temperatures to keep it reliable on the long run!

My boet owns a C32, they are getting cheaper by the day, saw one on gumtree.co.za for 179k. I will add one in the future to my collection. I like BMW, but I also like Merc. The C32 is so easy to mod. He has removed the speed limit, flashed it for more boost and manage to reach the rev limit at 300 km's per hour. The 0-100 is 4.8 seconds. Not too shabby I say.
