Hello everyone....
I have a 98 model 316i E36 with 205000 on the clock. I use my vehicle daily and she does approximately 200 km per week. This Thursday past, I did about 120 km in her and she ran perfectly.
The next morning, as I try to start the car, the engine turned but would not start. I tried starting it again and the same thing happened only this time the battery died (very quickly). I was busy on Saturday so figured I would charge the battery sunday and try again. On Sunday, before doing any charging, I tried to start her. The car started first time and made a terrible noise from the engine bay. I opened the bonnet and could hear what sounds like a piece of metal bouncing and grinding inside the engine. The revs are also jumping up to about 2000 and then suddenly falling to just before stalling point....
I am worried to try start her again as it definitely sounds as if what ever has come loose inside is causing damage....
Any suggestions on what to do?:dunno:
PS: only thing I did to the car recently was change the starter motor...
