Last time I was on the oval was in '97 with an RSi 20 valve. Did 211 km/h. Some RGM e36 M3 did 260+ km/h. That was the highest speed on the day if memory serves me right. Good old days...

Sent on the run from my iPhone using Tapatalk

actually what is the highest speed recorded at geroteks oval?

Herr

Last year it was still held by the late Loly Jackson (RIP), but somewhere around 300kph with one of his Lambo's

Once you have driven around the oval, you will have respect for whom ever exceeds 250 on the track, it's more a mental challenge than a physical one

300 on Gerotek??????????
I am sorry, but I take this with a pinch of salt.
Anything over 220 is a physical challenge in any car as the track was intended for a neutral 180. I have never seen anyone in any car enter the corner above 240 and there is not a lot of space to try and make up the speed in the straight.
Have you ever driven on the oval?

Must agree, its both a physical and mental challenge. Your mind says-AINT NO chance this car is going around there at this speed and you can NOT hesitate at all either.

If I recall the record was broken by a GTR last year, somewhere in the 280's, one session ate a brand new tyre to the thread on that run.

I usually join the Opel and Renailt club days (an official event MSA) in 2010 these were some of the official times:

Fastest Megane 2.0t sport (old shape) - 244kph
Fastest for the day - BMW M6 (not standard) - 266 kph
Same owner of the M6 in V8 M3 - 257 kph (speed limiter removed, stock)
Both BMW's done about 6 oval laps - marshall removed them due to tyres worn through (was new when they entered)
Some E30 with 328 turbo motor ran 260 kph and a very old Toyota corolla 1.8 turbo ran 240 kph

Yes I have done the oval in a stock E90 330d auto with 17" RFT's and clocked 225 kph, I have also done it in a Renault Megane Sport at 233 kph

There is always the Audi-S club and AMG pitching up, but usually they don't impress, I still have to see another German brand go over 240 on the oval

Cost is around R250 per car per day and it's still open to the public these events, but with limited number of entries

Yes i remember that day very well when that white 325iS look alike clocked 260.
I am glad i am not the one sitting in it at that speed.
IIRC he entered the bottom corner at 230ish and as soon as the car settled he floored it, thereby exiting the corner @240something and finally clocking 260 on the uphill where the trap is.

Yes, the guy is insane, the turbo is the size of a watermelon.

The BMW's (M6 & M3) pitched up just before the end of the day
