High Speed Run

Okay I phoned them and got some info.

High Speed Oval R 750 P/H

Skid Pad R 984 P/H

Gerotek Offical R 2260 For full day, has to be there not an option.

Medical Team R 3500 For full day, has to be there not an option.

If we have no timing done and speeds are below 160 KPH we can get away not having the MSA there, but if We want timing done and/or go flat out we have to get the MSA involved its not an option, its gerotek policy.

Make sure, cause last time I called them, that was the rate Per Hour, and it would have cost us like almost R7k large per person for the day... :screwy:

i drove on the highspeed bowl........and it is really bumpy and quite challenging to keep close to the wall but lots of fun............only problem is that if we wanna go over 160km/h we need MSA approval dont know if anyone can confirm that

:thumbdo: and then people wonder why illegal street racing hasnt stopped happening...
its simply because the tracks are too bloody expensive.

pity though coz i for 1 would love to know what my car can do with a bit of room.

Last time I was on the oval was in '97 with an RSi 20 valve. Did 211 km/h. Some RGM e36 M3 did 260+ km/h. That was the highest speed on the day if memory serves me right. Good old days...

That would be 427km/h and then the machine that monitored the run broke down...
It was done by a lady on a broom called my mother in law... :mmm:

Brett, do we have any futher feedback on this??
If we cant do the highspeed thing without involving the MSA, then what about the suggestion Fordkoppie had about the dynamic handling track?? :dunno:

It seems like at Gerotek they are very wary of doing any kind of events there, but I am getting two different storys from them.

So let me see if I cant get a clear answer from them.

Although once thing is clear, if you want to go above 160 kph MSA will be involved and there is no way around all events that do high speeds the MSA will be there to sanction the event.

I think do that, and make sure.
ODI is a bit out of the way for the JHB guys, but if they willing to travel we can try and organise it there. :dunno:

I can organize another event at ODI if AnnihalatorZA doesn't mind. It will have to be on my terms though for the benefit of the forum members and to cover the days expenses. If you guys are keen I will confirm about the MSA. there is a way around that too :bravo: I must find out track costs and then see how affordable it is. It used to be R8500 but I am not sure with the new owners. Once this is done and assuming you guys agree we will have two polls, one to choose the day - sat vs sun and then the best date based on their availability too. This way we will avoid what happened on the last dyno day when a date was chosen without any consultation.
Oh and to the sponsors don't jump on this now unless you wanna pay for everyone :ty:
