Hi There!

I'm a new member, owner of a 2001 X5 3.0i with around 225km on the clock. Currently considering upgrading to a 2008 X5 3.0D with around 275km. My present X5 is in perfect condition but I am hoping to save a few bucks on fuel costs by upgrading to a diesel motor and at the same time getting a car 7 years newer. Any thing I should look out for in buying a second hand diesel engine X5.
Happy to be on this forum.

275k km seems high.....better make sure the car is clean and was well maintained, E70 replacements parts can be pricey. (Shocks, mounts, bushes, etc)

Thanks for your input. Correction mileage is just over 250Km but my concern still is that's a bit high. Current owner claims this done mostly on long trips. It does have full service history with BMW and recently the diesel and airfilters were replaced as well as the serpentine belt and pulleys. The car is very clean and well maintained. I think I should go for it but the big decision is what price would be reasonable to offer?

Also have egr/cats/swirlflaps checked before purchasing. If its already deleted on the model then great. A diesel does not necesarily equate to lower fuel consumption.
