OK GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I prepared for my K04 conversion.

I gathered some goodies:

Thanks to Le Clue he gave me the required part numbers for my K04:06F 253 039F Gasket x1
N 908 94601 Nut x5
V 06F 145 757L Gasket x1
N 044 5203 Stud x4
1K0 253 115AB Gasket x1
G 996 A8GM1 G12 Coolant x3
N013 8514 Washer x2 (Had no stock)
N102 86108 Nut x4 (Had no stock)
N 013 8149 Washer x6 (Had no stock)
3C0 131 483 Clip x6 (Had no stock)

Optional parts I got as well:
06J 115 403Q Oil filter x1
1K0 201 051K Fuel Filter x1

The parts which VW didn't have stock didn't delay the k04 conversion. We just reused some bolts and washers. (Apparently there were some sort of strike going on)

Then I purchased the Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 (VW 502/505 spec) oil. I truly believe in this oil as it is one of the oils with the highest Viscosity rating of 187. (You can look at the Technical Data sheet of your desired oil on their website http://www.epc.shell.com/)

I would also recommend to the guys that is going K04..to put in new spark plugs(4)...I didn't buy a set as I changed mine about 3000km ago. I used the NGK BCPER7EIX-11 gapped at 0.7

I managed to get all the required stuff together by Saturday.
Then on Saturday I went to load my Stage 3 P0 (95 file) at VAG Technik Pretoria and hanged out there all day.
I drove very carefully back home Saturday afternoon (below boost). As this file is not suited for K03.

So I arrived at IvanB's location at 9:30AM
As the car needed to cool down...we started to strip some under covering plastics, drain the oil and after draining we changed the oil filter. (This was the perfect time to change oil for me as I change oils every 7500km. Twice in the 15000km service interval. One oil change by me and another oil change by VW)

And then changed the fuel filter. (I would recommend this to anyone!!! My car is currently sitting on 21500km and the fuel inside the fuel filter was really dirty - looked brownish milkish)

Ivan then stripped some more stuff as the car cooled down. About 12pm
Removing heat shields...covers...Disconnecting DP etc.

After a short while, Ivan managed to take out the complete Ko3(ihi) turbo. The turbo still looks in great condition. As it only did 21500 km.

K03 vs K04

Ivan then continued to put on some locktite on the studs (Which the downpipe connects to)

Ivan properly tightened the studs into the turbo

We removed my revision H DV and connected it to the machined location for the DV on the K04 (it also seals with a o-ring inside)

Ivan also removed oil and water lines from the k03 assembly and reconnected it on the K04. (We also replaced the oil line gasket)

So K04 assembly is complete and ready to go in

Ivan then went forth to "test fit" the k04 kit and make sure the clocking of the turbo is correct so that the 90 degree (50mm) bend clear the block which the discharge pipe connects to.

Everything looked perfect...and fitted perfect. Ivan then went forth to connect the DP (with new gasket) and reassemble everything that was stripped.
We also filled up the coolant. (We used all 3 bottles)
Poured in the new fresh life juice. (Oil)

Ivan then left the coil packs disconnected and cranked the motor a few times..so that the new oil can get to the important places. After he was happy...we connected everything and VOALA!!! She started with no issue!
She purrrrrrred so nicely I got goose bumps!

The last thing we did was to put in the "Revo dog bone insert". (Thanks Le Clue) which we struggled with. Very tight fit ,but it is a awesome little mod.

Ivan Also replaced a lot of missing bolts here and there.

After Ivan was finished...there wasn't ONE SINGLE bolt that was lying around. I must say...he definitely knows his way around!!!

We were officially finished at 3pm. (We took our time to do everything properly)

During the K04 conversion a few people came to give their support!

THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE WHO WAS INVOLVED IN MY K04 CONVERSION!!! If one has the extra cash...K04 is really worth it!

I already had my first run against an A45 AMG last night! And the K04 conversion's result proved to be worthy! (http://www.vwgticlub.co.za/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=21055)

:rollsmile::rollsmile::rollsmile:

Here is a little acceleration video.

Here is the Transverse K04 kit I got from VAG TECHNIK EAST (Benoni)

The is OEM Borg Warner turbo with OEM Manifold.
The rest is custom made. DV location on the turbo...no need for Dv relocation kit.

This is one quality piece of kit!

I paid 16.5k for this kit
