I'm new here and don't know if this is in the right spot! (Introduction?)
I've just recently converted from Audi to BMW (07 X3)
Normal to my kind of luck, had the car 7 months (happily) now to find my transfer box is shot!!!
Whipped it out and stripped it, quite a mess inside. Seems that one of the flat roller brgs that activate the clutch gave up and did a bit of damage.
My first question is, does anyone know where I might scrummage some second hand parts from? I know I can get from ZF( I'll get the clutch plates etc from them)
The second question is, has anyone taken their swirl plates out yet? I took mine out just after I bought the SUV. I was told they give big problems and do very little.... my fuel consumption got a little better, from 7.6/100 to 7/100 !!! (Open rd @ 120-130)
