Hi guys. I have abit of an issue with my car. It's a 2002 bmw E46 with the N42 engine. I noticed that if I accelerate hard. Once it reaches past 4000rpm, it cuts out. The engine doesn't die. But when I press the accelerator, nothing happens. It doesn't not Rev up. Until I come to a stop. Car will have lil a lumpy idle like it wants to stall but it doesn't. It will continue to idle like that until I switch the car off. Restart it and everything is back to normal... it will Rev up, and I can take off again. Driving the car gently. There's is no problems. Only if I decide to accelerate going past 4000rpm. That problem occurs.

Any help will be much appreciated 🙏

Yes I do plan on doing that. Need to make an appointment with the mechanic. Out of curiosity. Is it possible for a faulty valvetronic or the vanos to cause those issues?

Update. Fixed the issue which was the sensor which opens a flap in the intake manifold which allows a higher volume of air to be entered into the combustion chamber when valvetronic activates when you over 3000rpm.
