Take the vin to a dealer. They should be able to track some details. Mainly partaining to motorplan history etc, but sometimed they even tell you where it's been worked on for most of it's life, and if you can reach those guys, they might be willing to give you detailed jobcards partaining to the exact work done on the car.

Good luck mate

dealer would be your best bet
i doubt motorplan was available back then, iirc it came out in the 90's
at the very least you should be able to get the basic info you require

Damn Adi, sorry, then I'm out of ideas for now.

Maybe see if you can do your research on how the Vin numbers were structured back then, meaning what each digit means, and see if you can at least see if it suits the car. Secondly, obviously make sure all the numbers match if the owner says everything is still original, but I'm assuming you've done this already. Sorry, I'm not a boffin on older models. Some guys on this forum are though, so I'm sure they'll be along shortly with good advice.
