Hi Guys,

following my last post about wanting to do software, i have decided to do it and now the question is which one, I really would like some fellow fantatic feedback or help decide? the intention of the car is not to be a full blown racer, alot of focus on reliability but with a decent amount of performance.

I have n54 135, the options are

1. JB4
2. Xcede
3. FRC (or FR&R) they now have sofware for the 1er as well
4. Procede (Import)
5. GIAC

, any ideas thoughts?? Which way shall I go?

I have attached an interesting comparison on some of the software just for information, once of the guys did it over at 1 addicts, i think its quite cool.

Firstly one has to take note that a n54 motor has issues straight from the factory , so bear in mind tuning can either make these issues more visible or less visible. This point is the one to be noted first before even attempting to make a decision on tuning.

But with that said both JB and Xcede have overcome lots of trials and errors and have progressed quiet a bit on these motors.

Both tuning houses is right here on this forum in terms of support. Both have achieved good results with this motor and both tuning houses have shown their power on dynos and the track right here in sunny SA.

Its just a matter of personal choice to you. We not gonna come onboard and say we better or XXX tuning house is worse etc. Thats just wrong ethics.

Suggestion would be to speak to which ever tuning house you choose for advise and possible trial software etc.

Customer service is very important and you need to take this into consideration when investing in any product.

Hope this helps.

Choosing a tune is like choosing a doctor. You need a local representative that is going to give you service. log the car, map it, when you have issues help you diagnose. The service is more important than the actual product as they all produce similar power. 1 may produce a little more power than the other, but when you need help if you can't get service from your tuner, it's pointless.

The JB has some advantages over a flash tune in terms of switching maps & meth integration. That cannot be discounted, but not everyone needs that & the power is going to be similar with or without that.
