Help this 18 year old choose his BMW

We had 10-11l/100km on a daisy drive with the 2005 525i.

What sort of 18 year old is this.

Not being said with any bad intentions.


If you are "gifted with money in the family" then by all means get an 8 cylinder.

If not, go for the 3 series 6 cylinders. Good punch for a decent amount of money.


Sure the e34 is a great car, but is it best for an 18 year old. Im not so sure.



My advice once again. Get an e36, spend some of the saved money on some decent mods and then put the rest in a bank account and keep there till youre 50 years old.

At the start of this thread he said he does not want a E36, you seem to insist he looks at it, you mentioned it 3 times now.

In the end its gona be his car, everyone can only give advice to him, but he will in the end buy whatever he wants.

@Sabretooth - Naah, absolutely not irritated. I understand his predicament. I was that age some time back, and can relate to the excitement / anxiety. Im very glad that of all the car brands on the market he's chosen BMW for his first car.


I understand its his decision and has no impact on me. And if he doesnt want an e36, thats cool. Was just looking out for what may be cool for him based on his age and possible requirements from a car.


The E34's are great cars. My uncle used to have a burgundy 525i. That car used to pull quite nicely.


@PE - Whatever car you get, congrats. You wont go wrong with a BMW.
