Help me decide - F10 (320d) or F30 (328)?

Hi,

The past couple of days have been torture as I'm not sure what I want. I currently have an E90 325, and am restless to replace it.

My budget allows for either the:
F30 328 (Sports Line)
or
F10 520d (with M Sport)

I enjoy the space and executiveness/class of the F10 but I'm concerned that I'll miss the speed and sportiness of the F30.

So... do I stick to what I know, the 3 series, and use it's speed/performance to make me feel better everytime I see a 5 series or do I tread new grounds, possibly be labelled as an old man and I pray I dont get bored behind the wheel?

The F30 is already massive so the 328 would get my vote. The fact that it is not a farming implement is also attractive.
Resale will also be better on the f30 in future

F30 328i seems to have an impressive balance of performance vs economy, so that would get my vote

It's a difficult one, I always have the same problem when buying a new BMW and everytime I end up with the 3, but everytime when I see a 5 i think :bangdesk:

I reckon my 335 is the last 3 for me (I am 35),

My gut tells me its a lot of money. Don't gamble -stick to what you know. But the F30 is just more of the e90 with a more colourful interior and a slightly different body. But the performance is a big plus.

Is the 520 an old man's car?

You mean F10 520d.

Wooaahh! Really wish I had problems like yours too!

I would choose the 5 series if this was my problem!!!

Why? The new 3 is simply marvellous of course, but styling too close to the old. The new 5 is a change in leaps and bounds from the old! In time, the 5 will still be somewhat of an exclusive looking machine. The old E39s still look amazing.

Performance? Test drive both of them!

And, ask yourself the question - "will I have the urge to change to change to the 3 or 5 more if I parked next to one!?"

Good luck! :=):

F10 gets my vote

The luxury in this car will take any doubt away from the F30 everytime you drive it. I have owned an E90 and moved to the E60 which is technically same generation of technology and it certainly isn't just a size difference. It felt like a different brand of machinery.

At the end of the day, it all depends on what your expectations from a car is.

I am at a loss just thinking about it as well! :flyfun:

I want to go test drive them both just so I can give you an educated opinion!
I like both cars alot, they are both so HOT!
I think in terms of looks I prefer the F10.

I think I'd go for the F10. Im fatherly like that!

The F30 is more spacious than the E90, so i think you will be sorted there... Resale the 3 beats the 5 anyday.... always has
The N20 in tyhe 328i has already been proved to be understated in power claims as tested overseas... any impresses every mag that tested it.

Tought choice, but i will definitely go with the 328i....:praise:

Something worth noting, the suspension on the F30 is the same across the range, the sports line doesn't have "sportier" suspension, this will come with the M-Sport packs release later in the year.

That being said, the sport line is an awesome package. The seats, exterior and interior touches are great. The F10 is an amazing car, but I would take the F30.

Having had all the generations of 3's and 5's except for the two latest incarnations, the 5's always impress me more. They are surprizingly wieldy for big cars yet far more comfortable and if I had your problem it would be the 520d Mpack in white!!!
