HELP - E46 Fan not switching on

 Turns out I will need to replace my fan as well. Drove the car last night and to work this morning without any issues. I must admit, I was not stuck in heavy traffic and it's a lot cooler this morning. Why does it seem as if everything breaks at the same time - expansion tank (due to faulty level indicator), aircon FSU(crap job) and now the fan on the radiator! What's next?:thumbdo:

That is the way these things go, next will probably be a coil pack or two, or cam position sensor maybe, and then there is of course also the ever present squirrel in cylinder nr 3.

I suppose I should not complain. 8 years is a loooooong time. I have replaced coil packs before, Sankekur, at least they're cheaper than the above mentioned items.

Ok, it's not the fan, got a new one, fitted it and still have the problem where the temp goes above 115 deg c. Funny thing is, I drove from Rivonia to Midrand in stop start fashion and not once did temp needle move above the normal mark and it was 31 deg c outside. Will change the Thermostat tomorrow and see what happens. I wonder if this has anything to do with the FSU/FSR that I still need to replace. I tried one night, but gave up when my Torx screw driver was just a tad too long to get the top screw on the actuator out. Maybe I need to replace this first and see what happens? Any ideas?

OK, seems mine was the thermostat. Funny that it only overheated when I was fiddling and never in traffic. Nicwes, I apologise if it seems as though I highjacked your thread. I thought we might've had the same issue/problem.:flyfun:
